Super Healthy Version of Beef Brisket in Tomatoes (with Quick Tomato Peeling Inside)
Prepare the garlic, ginger, star anise and allspice ahead of time.
Soak the brisket in water for one hour to remove blood. Drain the brisket, preferably with kitchen paper, and cut it into pieces. Add the beef brisket and fry until the beef is cooked in a pan. Brown both sides (brown one side, then flip to brown the other).
Add the garlic and ginger and sauté for more fragrance.
Drizzle in the wine from the side of the pan.
Add the whole packet of tomato paste and stir-fry evenly.
I used the Laughing Chef No Added Ketchup.
Transfer to the rice cooker and add the coriander and star anise.
Put in the dark soy sauce and light soy sauce.
Add appropriate amount of water. (I put too much water here, because the rice cooker does not deplete water, so put it at the same level as the brisket.
Steaming procedure for an hour and a half. (I like it soft, so it takes longer, you can adjust the time yourself, at least 50 minutes)
Prepare the tomatoes, remove the stems, cut into small pieces and set aside.
For the last ten minutes, add the tomato pieces. Continue steaming.
When the process is complete, return to the wok and reduce the sauce to your preferred consistency. (You can taste the saltiness here, I added a little sea salt)
Plate, sprinkle with green onions – done ✅
